With us is Dr. Peter, my fellows, live long and prosper. And what are we going to do this week? Dr, my fellows to to be able to live long and prosper. 


Well, one of the things we can do is talk to some of the people who've actually done it. And sentarians are the people who live to be 100 and the number of Centurions around the world has increased, especially in the blue zones around the world. And what happens is that we find out that interesting, interesting things about things, down to what they eat, to their personalities. So they went into these villages in Italy where the bunch of people were in their late 90s and passed 100 and they found that a lot of these people, one of the features they had was personalities. Some of them were very feisty, and their relatives even described some of them as being very stubborn as part of their resiliency, and when they start something, they don't, they don't give up, and they continue to work well into their 90s, whether it's in their house or it's whether on their properties and their land, and that contributes to a lot of their regular physical activity, because a lot of the studies have shown if you have At least seven hours a week of regular physical activity that gives you a 40% chance higher of reaching 90 and above. And of course, you need about seven hours a week of physical activity, whether it's walking, running over there, walking, or it doesn't even just a good old fashioned walk. And, you know, maybe, maybe someday, in places like New York City, will be able to take long walks again without worrying about other things. And one of the things is also physical safety. You know, these people also are careful. They don't do risky behavior. They don't drive fast. They tend to drive safer cars. They tend to wear helmets when they're riding a bicycle. You know, if it's cold outside, wear a nice warm jacket. Don't go outside try to get a pneumonia if you take a shower in freezing weather. So even simple things like that, and having a positive outlook and of life and an attitude of gratitude, the people who are more grateful tend to live longer. They found that these people, you know, might have some red wine once in a while, but they don't really have more than three and a half drinks a week. And the big studies in England with hundreds of 1000s of patients, so the rate of breast cancer in women went up very high after three and a half drinks or more a week. Not smoking was a major risk factor, not only for longevity, but for macular degeneration and eye problems. These people, in common, have sleep hygiene. They tend to sleep at least six to seven good hours a week, and that seems to help a lot, because a lot of the brain tends. The brain molecules itself tend to clean themselves up with something called the glymphatic system. When you see sleep, and side sleepers do better. The other thing, of course, we talked about the plant rich diet, avoiding sugar, and they eat a lot of they don't eat a lot of meat, mostly on holidays. They found, but they do eat a lot of vegetables deans, legumes, nuts, olive oil, and they have a moderate amount of fish as well but it's not. It's wild caught fish.
